Making a dress from a dress

Making a dress from a dress

Okay, so I’m experimenting with this ‘making a pattern from a dress’ at this blog which makes it look so easy.
Mine’s already got lines everywhere and coffee-stains.
I sense this could be a bit of a challenge and a half… http://sweet-verbena.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/making-your-own-pattern-tutorial.html

Make her smile. Where’s her nose?

As it now seems that I am in the habit of doing little craft projects, I thought that I might share them on a blog.

This was an attempt at a Steiner/Waldorf doll.
They’re traditionally meant to be featureless, so that children can project emotions onto them. It looked creepy without eyes, so I put on some.

Then I gave it to my 3 year old. She liked it, then inspected it.

“Make her smile, Mummy. Where’s her nose?”

I could see her point. We compromised and I sewed on a little mouth that I tried to make half-smiley, half ambiguous.

She’s made entirely from scraps – the only new thing about her is the stuffing.
